ABOUT NEIGHBORHOOD RAMEN

Neighborhood Ramen was a small BYOB counter service ramen shop, dedicated to honoring the craft and culture of ramen that was open from January 2019-June 2024

We make all of our noodles, broth, tare and toppings from scratch.

ESO Ramen Workshop

ESO, as in the prefix for esoteric, is defined as: understood by or meant for only the select few who have special knowledge or interest.

This is what our vision for ESO Ramen Workshop is. A place for people that understand (or are genuinely interested in learning about) what it means to make ramen and enjoy it in that moment, and interested in the culture and advancement of ramen as a cuisine.

What Was This Place?

It’s where we housed our Yamato noodle machine from Japan and had been making the noodles for Neighborhood Ramen for the past couple years(and for mawn too!)

After we closed the original location of Neighborhood Ramen in preparation of relocating the shop to Tokyo, ESO was open in the interim as a practice run for our shop in Tokyo.

ESO will had 2 different concepts throughout the week. (continue reading to learn more)

The shop was only be ran by the two owners, Jesse and Lindsay Mariko

ESO Ramen Workshop is split up into two spaces:

A still from Ramen Heads that sums up our intentions at ESO

The Front

The front was a 6 seat ramen counter where we are trying to create a very accurate Japanese ramen shop dining experience. We only served ONE type of ramen(usually gyokai tonkotsu) with an occasional gentei(special).

This was our practice run for how we will run our shop in Tokyo.

Walk up only; no reservations or waitlist, just a first come, first serve line.

Dining in The Workshop

the back

Behind the wall, as you passed through the noren curtain, you entered The Workshop. This is where we made noodles, but the area also has 11 seats and was open for gyokai tsukemen every other week(usually Thursday evenings).
